Golden Reel Award Rules & Bylaws


Each year the MPSE presents "THE GOLDEN REEL AWARDS", by which we acknowledge the year's best work in the various areas of sound editing. Download the complete rules and By-Laws for viewing, downloading, or printout.

When a film or television program wins the MPSE Golden Reel Award, the listed Sound and Music Editors receive MPSE Golden Reel Award Trophies. Additional listed crew (including Producers, Directors, Assistant Editors, Loop Group Leaders, and Mixers) receive certificates that denote their contribution to the winning production. Non-winning crews receive Certificates of Nomination.

Only ACTIVE MPSE members are eligible to vote for feature Golden Reel Award nominations and board elections. Active membership is restricted to foley artists, sound and music editors in these fields.

Affiliate membership is restricted to associated professionals and organizations in the motion picture and television industry.

The MPSE has recently added a new level of membership for students.

Membership is only by application and is subject to review by the Board of Directors of the Motion Picture Sound Editors. For information on becoming a member, please click here.
